Thailand unveils 2027 tourism strategy to drive growth
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has unveiled its 2027 strategic roadmap, titled ‘The Year of Transformation’. The plan aims to increase tourism revenue by at least 5% compared to 2026 levels and position Thailand as one of the top three destinations in Asia for traveler loyalty.
A central component of the strategy is to rebalance the market portfolio by diversifying visitor distribution. The TAT intends to shift the ratio of visitors between major and emerging destinations to 60:40, reducing reliance on single markets or specific locations. To support this, the ‘The Link Plus’ program will target 19 priority areas to increase international arrivals by 10%.
Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool stated that the initiative represents a commitment to redefining Thai tourism through quality, value, and long-term competitiveness. The strategy focuses on high-value experiences, emphasizing wellness, culture, and gastronomy. Additionally, the TAT plans to transition from a promoter to a coordinator of the tourism ecosystem, utilizing data, technology, and AI to enhance the traveler experience.
