Thailand warns of heavy rain and high seas across 54 provinces
The Thai Meteorological Department issued a 24‑hour forecast warning of heavy to very heavy rain affecting 54 provinces nationwide. Areas in the north, northeast, central, east and southern regions are expected to see intense thunderstorms, with rain‑related flash‑flood and landslide risks especially on steep slopes and low‑lying ground.
Sea conditions in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand are projected to reach 2‑3 metre waves, with higher surges where thunderstorms occur. Small vessels are urged to remain in port, and navigation in the upper Andaman Sea should be avoided.
The agency also noted a low‑pressure area in the South China Sea that may develop into a hot zone “Maitak” and move toward Hainan, but it is not expected to directly affect Thailand’s weather during the forecast period.
