Thailand water levels stabilize in Bangkok despite regional flooding

Water management expert Asst. Prof. Dr. Sitang Pilala has provided an update on the water situation in Thailand, noting that while flooding persists in certain areas, the overall situation in Bangkok is no longer a cause for major concern.

Key observations include:

- Chao Phraya River: Water levels outside the embankments are rising but have not breached them. Residents are advised to keep belongings above the 2,500 cubic meter discharge level, or 2,800 cubic meters for extra precaution. - Bangkok: The situation is stable except for localized flooding, which authorities are working to pump out. Residents should watch for water backflowing through drainage pipes due to high sea levels. - Other Regions: The Mae Klong River basin remains critical in Ratchaburi and Samut Songkhram, with water backflowing through pipes. The Tha Chin River is overflowing and flooding is expected to persist until the end of November. - Dams: The Pa Sak Jolasid Dam is at over 100% capacity, but discharge is being managed to prevent major flooding.
