Thailand issues flood and landslide warnings for 76 provinces
Thailand is facing severe weather warnings as the Thai Meteorological Department forecasts heavy to very heavy rainfall across much of the country, particularly between September 17 and September 20. The North and Northeast regions are expected to be the hardest hit initially, with the Central, Eastern, and Southern regions following.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has issued alerts for 76 provinces and Bangkok, warning of flash floods, forest run-off, landslides, and potential water overflows. In Nan province, specific warnings have been issued for the Pua and Tha Wang Pha districts due to continuous heavy rain.
Maritime warnings are also in effect, with waves in the Andaman Sea expected to reach 2 to 3 meters, and vessels advised to avoid areas with thunderstorms. The DDPM has mobilized emergency response teams and reminds citizens to use the 1784 disaster hotline for 24-hour assistance or the 'Thai Disaster Alert' app for real-time notifications.
