Thailand issued heavy rain and flash flood warnings through September 27

The Thai Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain warning effective through September 27, forecasting widespread heavy to very heavy rainfall across much of Thailand. The weather is driven by a strong low-pressure area over lower central Thailand and Bangkok, combined with an active southwest monsoon.

Significant risks include flash flooding, forest runoffs, and landslides, particularly in lowland areas and near foothills. Bangkok and its surrounding provinces are under close watch, with some areas already experiencing flooding. Other regions facing high risks include the North, Northeast, East, and upper South.

Maritime conditions are expected to deteriorate. Waves in the upper Gulf of Thailand and upper Andaman Sea may reach 2 to 3 meters, exceeding 3 meters during thunderstorms. Small boats in these areas are advised to remain ashore through September 27.
