Thailand weather warning: Heavy rain in south and upcoming storm cycle
The Thai Meteorological Department has issued weather warnings for various regions of Thailand. While rainfall is beginning to subside in upper Thailand, heavy rain and thunderstorms continue to affect the southern regions, covering approximately 60% of the area in provinces such as Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Yala, Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang, and Satun.
Marine warnings are in effect for the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. Waves in the upper Andaman Sea are expected to reach 2 meters, with waves exceeding 2 meters in areas with thunderstorms. Residents and sailors are advised to exercise caution regarding heavy accumulated rainfall and high waves.
Looking ahead, meteorologists are monitoring a potential new round of rainfall expected between October 5 and October 10, though it is predicted to be less intense than previous periods. Between September 30 and October 4, thunderstorms will remain scattered across the north, central, and eastern regions, with coverage ranging between 30% and 60%.
