Thailand's Civil Service Commission to revoke local hires over exam fraud

The Thai Civil Service Commission (กสถ.) has scheduled a meeting on 15 July to decide whether to withdraw the appointments of local civil servants suspected of exam cheating. The investigation, prompted by a discrepancy between raw exam scores and published results, identified five officials already removed from their posts and a broader list of 6,014 individuals flagged by the National Anti‑Corruption Commission (ป.ป.ช.).

The commission will forward its findings to the Central Civil Service Committee (ก กลาง) and the relevant provincial authorities for possible revocation of appointments. Police are also examining financial trails linked to the alleged fraud. Permanent Secretary Arsith Samphantharat (อรรษิษฐ์) said the process aims to provide clarity for the public, noting that the Ministry of Interior’s role is complete and further steps now involve anti‑corruption and law‑enforcement agencies. The Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul called for the coordinated effort on 11 July, emphasizing swift action to uphold integrity in local governance.
