Thales wins NATO air navigation contract and Italian satellite program

Thales' Spanish subsidiary was awarded a contract by NATO’s Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) to supply a Deployable Tactical Air Navigation system (D‑TACAN) to the Spanish Air and Space Force. The contract includes the delivery of the system built in Thales’ Gorgonzola plant in Italy, integration and maintenance by Thales in Spain, and a full logistics package covering spares, training, documentation and service support, enhancing NATO’s resilient navigation capability and anti‑jamming resilience.

Separately, Thales Alenia Space, the Thales‑Leonardo joint venture, signed an agreement with OHB Italia to develop the Prisma Second Generation Earth‑observation satellite for the Italian Space Agency (ASI). Planned for launch in 2031, the Prisma‑S platform will carry a new hyperspectral instrument, improving spatial resolution from 30 m to 10 m and expanding scientific and operational applications. The programme builds on Thales Alenia Space’s experience with Copernicus and Cosmo‑SkyMed missions and reinforces Europe’s remote‑sensing capacity.
