Thanasis Avgerinos criticizes Maria Karystianou’s party structure

Thanasis Avgerinos has addressed the reasons behind his departure from Maria Karystianou’s political movement. In a discussion with MEP Faidias Panagiotou at Mount Athos, Avgerinos refuted allegations made by Karystianou that he was involved in a ‘coup attempt’ within the movement. He questioned the logic of such accusations, noting that he was entrusted with presenting the movement’s founding declaration if he were truly considered a threat.

Avgerinos criticized the organizational structure of the new political initiative, citing a lack of democracy and centralized decision-making. He referenced a phrase attributed to Karystianou, stating that ‘the party is two women and many soldiers,’ to argue that the movement is replicating the flawed practices of traditional parties. He further suggested that some individuals within the movement are primarily motivated by securing parliamentary seats rather than genuine political reform.
