Thanasis Avgyrinos quits as spokesperson for Maria Karystianou's 'Hope for Democracy' party

Journalist Thanasis Avgyrinos announced on social media that he has resigned from his role as spokesperson for the political movement "Hope for Democracy" led by Maria Karystianou. He stated that he no longer has any responsibility for the party's communications and will no longer represent it in the media.

In his post, Avgyrinos referred to a "parallel press office" that began operating on 12 July, which he said he was not informed about, and criticized the presence of "plant" advisors within the party, describing them as a problem for the movement. He added that each individual must take responsibility for their own actions and said he would be taking a short vacation.

The resignation comes as Karystianou's party faces declining poll numbers and is currently on a regional tour, with meetings in Larissa alongside local officials. The development is being noted within Greece's political landscape.
