Thăng Long Bridge traffic restrictions in Hanoi
The Hanoi Department of Construction has announced significant traffic adjustments for Thăng Long Bridge to facilitate the construction of a vehicle weight control station in the northern area (phase 2). The construction is scheduled to take place from September 15 to November 10, 2026.
During this period, trucks with a total weight of 2 tons or more and passenger vehicles with 16 or more seats (excluding buses) are prohibited from crossing the bridge daily between 5:00 and 24:00. The construction will involve two phases of lane closures near Vinh Thanh Commune, which will temporarily restrict traffic to fewer lanes in alternating directions.
To mitigate congestion, authorities have advised drivers to use alternative routes such as National Highway 2, National Highway 32, Vinh Thinh Bridge, or various expressways connecting to Thanh Tri Bridge and Ring Road 3. Speed limits in the construction zone will be reduced to a maximum of 40 km/h, and stopping or parking in the area is strictly prohibited.
