Thanh Da residential area clears for redevelopment in Ho Chi Minh City

The Thanh Da residential area in Binh Quoi Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, has become quiet as most residents complete their relocation and hand over their apartments. Built between 1968 and 1972, the complex consists of 22 blocks with approximately 4,300 units. Due to decades of use, the structures have significantly deteriorated, showing cracked walls and exposed steel.

Ho Chi Minh City is currently relocating residents from six specific blocks: 1, 2, 8, 9, 10, and 11. Previous clearances were completed for blocks 4 and 6. The redevelopment project, managed by the Thanh Da Housing Development Joint Stock Company, aims to rebuild the area on a scale of approximately 73,211 square meters.

The project includes plans for on-site resettlement, with approximately 1,750 resettlement apartments expected to be built. Construction is scheduled to begin in October 2026 once the developer receives the cleared site.
