Thanh Hằng's film 'Mesdames Thanh Sắc' faces steep revenue shortfall

The Vietnamese drama 'Mesdames Thanh Sắc', starring Thanh Hằng and Lương Thế Thành, has earned roughly 16 billion VND at the box office since its July release, far below the estimated 80 billion VND needed to break even. Producers say the film still requires about 64 billion VND to recoup its costs.

Box‑office data show a rapid decline in attendance, with only 99 screenings left and a single day reporting just 161 tickets sold. Competing releases such as "Minions & Monsters", "Quỷ bắt hồn", and the live‑action "Moana" dominate daily earnings. Director Thắng Vũ acknowledges the limited audience response and says criticism helps improve future projects.

Despite a high‑profile cast and significant production investment, the film’s performance suggests it may exit theatres with revenues under 20 billion VND, making a financial recovery unlikely.
