The Beach Boys postpone summer tour dates to give Mike Love a break

The Beach Boys have cancelled nearly 30 U.S. concerts scheduled between July 23 and September 3, allowing 85‑year‑old founding member Mike Love to recover after his voice was reported as severely weakened. The band will resume touring on September 24 at the Big E state fair in West Springfield, Massachusetts, with additional stops later in the month.

The postponement aligns with the group’s celebrations of the United States’ 250th anniversary and the 60th anniversary of the 1966 album Pet Sounds. All tickets for the postponed shows will be honored for the rescheduled dates, and fans are advised to contact local box offices for details. The tour also included a handful of Canadian dates that are being delayed.

Band personnel changes have been noted, with longtime member Bruce Johnston stepping back from live performances earlier in the year, though his recent brief return for a Hollywood Bowl run was mentioned. The decision is described by Love on Instagram as a short “recharge” break before the band continues its summer run.
