The Beatles release unreleased 1965 ‘Day Tripper’ recording

The Beatles have released an unreleased 1965 recording titled ‘Day Tripper (Songwriting Work Tape)’. The audio captures John Lennon and Paul McCartney collaborating on an early version of the song at Lennon’s Kenwood home in Weybridge, Surrey, before the track’s iconic riff was created.

The recording is part of an upcoming expanded special edition of the historic album ‘Rubber Soul’, scheduled for release on October 2. This new edition features a new mix by producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell, and includes 24 recordings from the album’s initial sessions, such as 20 previously unreleased takes and three home demos.

Other notable inclusions in the special edition are a version of ‘Michelle (Take 1)’ and various mixes, including the original mono mix and the US Capitol Records version.
