Contestants Chantel and Wyatt from the reality series "The Block" have claimed they were targeted by production following accusations that they exceeded their weekly budget. The Gold Coast couple expressed feeling personally antagonized, suggesting the budget dispute was manufactured to create a storyline. They noted that other contestants, Courtney and Sevhad, also overspent but did not face similar scrutiny.

An investigation into the discrepancy revealed the issue was an accounting error rather than a deliberate production ploy. Executive producer Julian Cress and host Scotty Cam explained that a builder's invoice had been accidentally entered into the accounting system twice, creating the false impression of a budget violation. While production apologized for the mistake, contestants stated the incident caused significant mental distress and impacted their reputation as small business owners.
