The Blood of Dawnwalker features strict time-management mechanics
The Blood of Dawnwalker, the debut RPG from Rebel Wolves—a studio founded by veterans of CD Projekt RED—features a central narrative mechanic centered on a strict 30-day time limit. Players control Coen, a character attempting to save his family from a group of vampires known as the Vraakiri in the Carpathian Mountains.
Time in the game is a finite resource consumed by specific actions such as completing quests, traveling, or learning new skills. This mechanic forces players to make strategic decisions regarding resource management and moral choices. To address the pressure of this timer, players have begun using community-made mods, such as ‘Better Story Timer’ and ‘Time Segment Stop,’ which can extend the limit to 90 days or pause time entirely.
Economic gameplay involves collecting items and managing inventory to purchase equipment and abilities. Players can improve their carrying capacity through the ‘Beast of Burden’ ability to facilitate selling loot and scrap to improve their character's progression.
