The Browser Company to discontinue Arc browser in favor of Dia
The Browser Company has announced that its flagship browser, Arc, will cease operations on Mac and Windows on December 22, 2026. Following the shutdown, user accounts will be deactivated and personal data will be deleted within thirty days.
The decision marks a strategic shift toward artificial intelligence. The company, which was acquired by Atlassian for $610 million in 2025, intends to focus all engineering and security resources on Dia, a new browser designed specifically for the AI era. The company stated that maintaining a secure browser requires constant effort that is intensifying due to AI-driven threats, and Dia was built from the ground up to meet modern security standards.
As Arc's development has already slowed, users are beginning to look toward alternatives such as Zen and Orion, as well as the company's own Dia, which offers some of Arc's features while allowing users to toggle AI components.
