Richard E Grant banished in The Celebrity Traitors series premiere

The second series of the BBC reality show ‘The Celebrity Traitors’ has seen significant early drama, most notably the banishment of actor Richard E Grant. Grant, who was initially selected as a Traitor alongside Maya Jama, made history by becoming the first Traitor to be banished at the very first roundtable after openly admitting his role to the group.

Following Grant's departure, the Traitors recruited comedian James Acaster as their third member. The game has continued with the murder of journalist Amol Rajan and the banishment of Myha’la. Viewers and commentators have debated the strategic merits of the Faithfuls' decision to banish Grant immediately, with some suggesting that keeping a known Traitor in the game could have provided a tactical advantage for monitoring the group.

Other contestants, including mathematician Hannah Fry and comedian Miranda Hart, remain central to the unfolding deception. The series features 21 celebrities competing for a cash prize of up to £100,000 for their chosen charities.
