Multiple fires reported across the Netherlands and Belgium

Several significant fires occurred across the Netherlands and Belgium in late August. In Evere, Belgium, a fire at the Résidence Azalées nursing home led to the evacuation of a corridor and the hospitalization of ten residents due to smoke inhalation. While the building's modern safety features prevented further spread, fifteen residents must be relocated.

In the Netherlands, multiple incidents were reported. In Den Haag, firefighters spent hours extinguishing a fire involving 30 to 40 hay bales on the Ypenburgse Stationsweg, requiring a crane to break apart the bales to reach deep-seated embers. In Swolgen, a large fire broke out at a horse trader's facility, prompting a major emergency response; approximately ten to twenty horses were successfully moved to safety.

Other residential incidents included a house fire in Ammerzoden that left a man injured and his home uninhabitable, and a fire in Weert caused by an Asian hornet nest in a tree. Emergency services in Swolgen also reported difficulties managing crowds of onlookers at the scene.
