The Hague street awash in orange as Dutch fans gear up for World Cup

Residents of the Marktweg in The Hague have transformed the entire street into a sea of orange ahead of the Netherlands' opening match at the FIFA World Cup. Thousands of tiny orange flags, lion motifs and orange‑clad lanterns now cover houses, trees and streetlights, while a small red‑white‑blue caravan serves as the "Hague Orange Campsite" for supporters staying locally.

Organizer Danny van Dijk said no complaints have been heard and neighbours have worked together for weeks to create the display. The decoration anticipates the Dutch team's Group F debut against Japan in Dallas, followed by matches versus Sweden in Houston and Tunisia in Kansas City. The Dutch royal family will attend the Houston game, and Curaçao – part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands – will play Ecuador during the tournament.

Photographer Rob van Rosmalen described the street as "beautifully decorated" and praised the community spirit shown by the neighbours.
