Retailers expand in Mexico with major investments in Lerma and García

Major retail chains are expanding their presence in Mexico through significant new investments.

The Home Depot has announced an investment of approximately 491 million pesos to construct a new store in Lerma, Estado de México. This project marks the company’s 17th location in the state and is expected to generate roughly 100 direct jobs. The announcement, made at the company’s logistics center in Tlalnepantla, was attended by Laura González Hernández, the State of Mexico’s Secretary of Economic Development, who emphasized the government's commitment to supporting formal job creation.

In Nuevo León, Walmart de México y Centroamérica is investing over 296 million pesos to open a new Walmart Supercenter in the municipality of García. Located on Avenida Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, the project aims to create 123 direct jobs and 70 indirect jobs. Local officials noted that the expansion reflects private sector confidence in the region's growing residential and commercial sectors.
