Home Depot retail expansion in Mexico

The Home Depot has announced a plan to invest approximately 500 million pesos to construct a new store in Lerma, Estado de México. This expansion is intended to bring the company’s total to 17 locations within the state.

The project is expected to create around 100 direct jobs, with an estimated four indirect jobs generated for every direct position. While the opening is currently scheduled for 2028, state officials are working to expedite processes to potentially move the inauguration up to 2027. Roberto Riva Palacio, senior manager of Public Affairs and Corporate Communication for The Home Depot Mexico, stated that the Lerma project was selected following a rigorous selection process comparing the investment against other potential initiatives in the United States and Canada.

In a recent update, the company confirmed an investment of approximately 491 million pesos for the Lerma site. The announcement was made at the company’s logistics center in Tlalnepantla and attended by Laura González Hernández, the State of Mexico’s Secretary of Economic Development, who emphasized the government's commitment to supporting formal job creation.
