The Hunt for Gollum to explore Aragorn’s backstory
The upcoming film ‘The Hunt for Gollum’, directed by Andy Serkis, is expected to explore the backstory of Aragorn, a character whose history was only briefly touched upon in Peter Jackson’s original trilogy. The new production may focus on the period when Aragorn served as the Captain of the Rangers of the North, known as Strider.
Jamie Dornan is set to portray Strider, alongside Leo Woodall as Halvard, a member of the Rangers. This addition suggests a deeper look into the Dúnedain, the wandering people of Eriador who protect the lands of their ancestors.
While the original film adaptations depicted Aragorn as a reluctant hero struggling with his lineage, the character in J.R.R. Tolkien’s books was more certain of his destiny and his right to the throne. The new film offers an opportunity to bridge the gap between the cinematic portrayal and the character's extensive lore.
