The Kindness Mob combats online bullying through digital support

The Kindness Mob, a group of approximately 500,000 members, is working to combat internet toxicity by supporting victims of online bullying. Founded in 2023 by Tyler Brickley of Kansas City, Missouri, the group identifies individuals facing harassment and responds by flooding their comment sections with compliments and encouragement.

One recipient, Kahri Salyars of King George, Virginia, experienced a sudden shift from receiving hundreds of hateful comments on a TikTok video to receiving a massive wave of support. Brickley stated that the group’s goal is to make the internet appear kind, noting that they often attempt to provide this support without the target knowing the source of the kindness. Since its inception, the group has assisted roughly 400 individuals.
