The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum announced
A new film, ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum’, is set to return the Middle-earth franchise to the big screen. Directed by Andy Serkis, who also returns to portray Gollum, the story takes place between the events of ‘The Hobbit’ and ‘The Fellowship of the Ring’. The plot follows Aragorn, played by Jamie Dornan, as he hunts for Gollum to prevent the creature from revealing the location of the One Ring to Sauron.
The production features a mix of new and returning cast members. Newcomers include Leo Woodall as Halvard, Anya Taylor-Joy as the elf Seren, and Kate Winslet as Marigol. Returning actors include Elijah Wood as Frodo, Ian McKellen as Gandalf, and Lee Pace as Thranduil. The creative team includes producers Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens.
Speculation has also arisen regarding the potential return of Liv Tyler as Arwen. While the film's timeline allows for her character to be present in Rivendell, narrative constraints within Tolkien’s lore regarding the hunt for Gollum may present challenges for her involvement in the active quest.
