The Odyssey malware campaign spreads via pirated copies

Cyber‑security firm Bitdefender warned that illegal downloads of the blockbuster film *The Odyssey* are being used to deliver the Russian‑originated malware Lumma Stealer. The disguised executable files appear as video downloads but, when opened, install a stealer capable of harvesting passwords, payment data, browsing history and other personal files, giving attackers broad control over victims’ computers.

Bitdefender researchers, including Silviu Stahie, noted the pattern mirrors earlier attacks that used popular unreleased movies such as *Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning*. The firm advises users to obtain films only from legitimate streaming services and to verify that downloaded files are genuine video files rather than executables.
