The Simpsons Movie sequel set for September 2027 release

Details regarding the upcoming sequel to the 2007 film, currently referred to by the working title ‘The New Simpsons Movie’, have emerged. Showrunner Matt Selman has confirmed that the film is already written and has described the quality of the project as ‘S tier’. While the current title may change, official confirmation on a final name has not yet been released.

Rumors regarding the plot suggest the story may involve the Simpson family fighting versions of themselves from 20 years in the future, though Disney and 20th Century Studios have not verified these claims. The film is scheduled to premiere in theaters on September 3, 2027, following a previous release date shift from July 2027.

The production has received $21.9 million in tax credits through California’s expanded film incentive program, involving 22 actors and 195 crew members.
