The Voice Australia adds secret coach Tones And I and unveils new 'save' twist

Channel 7’s revived season of The Voice Australia introduced a surprise fifth coach, singer‑songwriter Tones And I. Her unique power allows her to rescue contestants who fail to receive a chair turn, giving them a second chance and private mentoring before they return to the blind auditions. The first artist saved under the new twist was busker Red Roy, who will now compete again with Tones’s team.

The coaching panel this season consists of Melanie C, Ronan Keating, Kate Miller‑Heidke and Richard Marx, all of whom were unaware of Tones’s presence or the secret “save” mechanism until filming began. Both Kate and Richard joked about the upcoming drama but praised each other’s insight, confirming that the twist will add a fresh dynamic to the competition. The winner of the season will receive a $100,000 cash prize and a recording development package.
