The Voice Australia 2026 twist

Overview

The 2026 season of The Voice Australia on Channel 7 introduced a new “save” twist. Pop‑star Tones and I was added as a secret fifth coach operating from a hidden backstage room. Unaware of her presence, the regular panel—Melanie C, Ronan Keating, Kate Miller‑Heidke and Richard Marx—now faces a coach who can rescue contestants who receive no chair turn during the blind auditions and give them a second chance on “Team Tones”.

The first artist saved under the twist was NSW busker Red Roy, who was selected by Tones and I for a redo and will re‑enter the competition with private mentoring. The season premiered on 2 August, with Sonia Kruger returning as host, and the new rule is described by Tones and I as a “fairy‑godmother” role aimed at increasing competition and offering overlooked talent another opportunity.

The winner will receive a $100,000 cash prize and a recording development package.
