The Who announces major Super Deluxe box set reissues
The rock band The Who is releasing major anniversary box sets for two of its classic albums.
A Super Deluxe edition of “Who’s Next | Life House” is scheduled for release on September 15. The 10-CD set includes 155 tracks, 89 of which are previously unreleased, along with 57 new remixes. The collection features Pete Townshend’s demos for the aborted “Life House” project, session recordings from 1970–1972, and various live performances. An additional Blu-ray disc contains new Atmos and 5.1 surround mixes by Steven Wilson.
Additionally, a 50th-anniversary Super Deluxe edition of “The Who By Numbers” will be released on October 30. This 5-CD/1-Blu-ray set features 92 unreleased audio tracks, a full unseen concert, and new Atmos, 5.1, and stereo mixes by Pete Townshend. The release includes a 100-page book and various vinyl options to commemorate the 1975 album, which marked a shift toward more introspective songwriting for the band.
