The X-Files director's cut streams on Disney+ and Hulu
Creator Chris Carter has released an R‑rated director’s cut of the 2008 film The X‑Files: I Want to Believe, retitled The X‑Files: I Want to Believe – Vrach Frankenshteyn. The new version restores horror elements that were removed to achieve a PG‑13 rating, adding graphic scenes and a darker tone inspired by a real‑life Dr. Frankenstein. It will debut on Disney+ and Hulu on August 14, with the original theatrical cut available the same day. The cut features the original leads David Duchovny as Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully, along with supporting actors such as Billy Connolly, Amanda Peet and Mitch Pileggi. The title’s Russian subtitle, “Vrach Frankenshteyn,” translates to “Victor Frankenstein.” A new trailer and poster have been released, highlighting the film’s intensified horror atmosphere.
