Theft incidents reported in Helden, Netherlands and Ghent, Belgium
Police in Helden, Netherlands, are seeking witnesses after a fraudster posing as a police officer or bank employee stole cash and jewellery from a residence on Van Hövellstraat on 21 July. The suspect, described as a 25‑year‑old man about 1.75 m tall with black, curly hair, was seen wearing a white T‑shirt, light‑blue jeans and white trainers. Authorities have appealed for CCTV footage or any other information that might identify the perpetrator.
During the Gentse Feesten in Ghent, Belgium, a burglary was discovered at the Pureto food stall on Emile Braunplein on 19 July. About €1,000 was taken from a cash box hidden in a flight case. The stall owners, brothers Gilles and Gaétan Vandegehuchte, reported the theft to police and said the incident prompted them to review security measures for handling cash at future events.
