Thessalian Theater extends 'Blood Wedding' summer tour to Patras

The Thessalian Theater continued its 2026 summer season with performances of Federico García Lorca’s play *Blood Wedding* in Patras and other Greek cities. Directed by Kostas Tsianos, the production features a translation by Erich Belié and original music composed by Dionysis Tsakni. The Patras showing took place on 27 July at the Summer Municipal Theatre as part of the International Festival of Patras, drawing enthusiastic applause and praise from critics and cultural officials.

The tour follows successful shows in Kavala, Aigio and other venues, celebrating both the 50‑year anniversary of the Thessalian Theater and the 90th anniversary of Lorca’s death. After Patras, the company scheduled further stops in Tyrnavos (29 July), Omoios (30 July) and Ellasona (2 August), bringing the production to audiences across the region.

Audience reactions highlighted the staging’s visual design by Georgios Ziakas, the evocative choreography, and the blend of Andalusian folk themes with classical Greek tragedy elements, underscoring the play’s enduring relevance.
