Thessalian Theatre launches nationwide 'Blood Wedding' tour marking 50 years

The Thessalian Theatre in Greece is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a new production of Federico García Lorca’s tragedy “Blood Wedding”. Directed by Kostas Tsianos with music by Dionysis Tsaknis, the cast includes Niki Pallikaráki, Tzeni Kazakou and other noted actors.

The official premiere is set for 1 July 2026 at the B Ancient Theatre of Larissa, followed by performances in Larissa on 2‑3 July. A summer tour will then take the play to venues across the country, including theatres in Alexandroupoli, Xanthi, Komotini, Kilkis, Chalkida, Kavala, Patras, Turbina, Ioannina, and several locations in the Athens region, with dates running through early September.

The production highlights the play’s themes of forbidden love, honor, and social oppression, linking the theatre’s historic legacy with contemporary Greek audiences.
