Thessalian Theatre launches nationwide “Blood Wedding” tour to celebrate 50 years

The Thessalian Theatre opened its 50th‑anniversary celebrations on 1 July with a sold‑out performance of Federico García Lorca’s *Blood Wedding* in the ancient theatre of Larissa. Directed by Kostas Tsianos, the production featured music by Dionysis Tsaknis, sets and costumes by Giorgos Ziakas and a cast that includes Niki Pallikaraki, Nikos Arvanitis, Tzeni Kazakou and Angelos Andriopoulos.

Following the opening night, the company will present the play in a summer‑long tour of Greece, with shows scheduled in Alexandroupoli, Xanthi, Komotini, Kilkis, Chalkida, Kavala, Patras, Tyrnavos, Omoili, Elassona and other towns through August. The tour coincides with the theatre’s half‑century milestone and the 90th anniversary of Lorca’s death, highlighting the work’s enduring relevance to Greek audiences.
