Thessaloniki: 13-year-old girl seriously injured after falling from hotel

A 13-year-old girl is in serious condition at Hippokrateio Hospital in Thessaloniki after falling from the fifth floor of a hotel in the Vardari/Agioi Pantes area around 4:00 AM on Monday.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the fall. Preliminary reports indicate the girl was in a hotel room with two men from Afghanistan. When a hotel employee discovered the minor's presence and knocked on the door, the girl and the men reportedly attempted to flee via a balcony or drainpipe. The girl fell to the ground, potentially striking a building awning which may have mitigated the impact, while the men managed to escape.

Police have launched a manhunt for the two men. A criminal case is being prepared against one of the individuals for causing grievous bodily harm, potentially classified as a felony. The investigation is ongoing as police collect statements from hotel staff and witnesses.
