DETH‑HELEXPO Thessaloniki 120‑stremmata park public redevelopment €204.6 million budget

The municipal council of Thessaloniki approved a 99‑year free lease of about 12.361 ha of municipal land for the redevelopment of the DETH‑HELEXPO site. The plan creates a 120‑stremmata Metropolitan Park, two new bio‑climatic exhibition halls, a renovated I. Vellidis conference centre and an underground parking facility for 1,064 cars. The project is funded entirely by national public resources, with a net budget of €165 million and a gross cost of €204.6 million including VAT. An international tender was launched on 30 July 2023, administered by the Strategic Contracts Unit (PPF) of the National Development Fund, and the contractor is to be selected by the end of 2026, with construction slated for 2027‑2030. Mayor Stelios Aggeloudis called the approval a “victory for Thessaloniki’s citizens.”
