Greek authorities have moved the long‑delayed Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) redevelopment into an active implementation phase. On 29 July 2026 the Thessaloniki municipal council approved a 99‑year free lease of roughly 12.36 ha to DETH‑HELEXPO AE and the Hellenic Participation and Property Company, outlining a €165 million net (€204.6 million gross) project that will create a 120‑stremmata Metropolitan Park, two new bioclimatic exhibition halls, a renovated Ioannis Vellidis conference centre and underground parking for over 1,000 cars. An international tender for the works was launched on 30 July 2023, administered by the Strategic Contracts Unit of the National Development Fund.
