Thessaloniki Career Day to offer over 2,500 job vacancies

The 57th Career Day, organized by the Public Employment Service, is scheduled to take place at the Port of Thessaloniki on Friday, September 11, and Saturday, September 12. Minister of Labor and Social Security Niki Kerameus announced that this event is the largest of its kind in Thessaloniki, offering over 2,500 job vacancies through more than 100 companies operating in Northern Greece.

Addressing the challenge of specialized labor shortages, Kerameus highlighted initiatives such as establishing apprenticeship branches within companies. For example, a timber company in Grevena implemented a program where students undergo practical training in the morning and classroom instruction in the afternoon, leading to certification and guaranteed employment after two years. Similar targeted programs have been developed for shipyard repair technicians.

Additionally, the Minister noted the delivery of 80 worker housing units in the Kyra Kali area of Grevena, a project that had been pending for 23 years.
