Thessaloniki fire reignites in Lepti, 12-year-old missing

A fire erupted again on the outskirts of the village of Lepti, near Thessaloniki, late on 30 June. Local authorities, rescue teams and volunteers are searching the area for a 12‑year‑old boy who has been reported missing. The child is the son of a man whose body was found carbonised at the scene, and his mother, who suffered burns, is currently hospitalized. Aerial water drops have been deployed continuously to contain the blaze and prevent further spread before sunset, when aerial operations must cease.

The incident has prompted a large-scale emergency response, with firefighters, coast guard personnel and special forces working together to locate the missing child and secure the perimeter of the fire.
