Thessaloniki: Five men referred to court after assault on citizen and police
Five men, aged between 27 and 42, have been referred to the Summary Misdemeanor Court of Thessaloniki following an incident in the Foinka area. The confrontation occurred during the August 15th festivities.
According to police, the group initially attacked a 60-year-old Iranian man who had complained about the high volume of their music. When officers from the OPKE unit arrived, the suspects allegedly insulted, threatened, and attacked the police officers. During the attempt to detain them, one of the suspects reportedly assisted another individual in escaping the scene.
Authorities seized 15 hunting cartridges, a speaker, an amplifier, and a mixer at the location. The suspects face multiple charges, including violence against public officials, disobedience, physical injury, threats, verbal abuse, damage to property, releasing a prisoner, and disturbing the peace.
