Thessaloniki International Fair prepares for 90th edition with Japan as honored country

The 90th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF) is scheduled to take place from September 5 to 13, marking a milestone year that coincides with the 100th anniversary of its first organization. The event is expected to host over 1,000 exhibitors and attract more than 200,000 visitors.

Japan has been selected as the honored country for this edition. Occupying a 3,200-square-meter space in Pavilion 13, the Japanese presence will be centered on the ‘Takumi’ philosophy, emphasizing craftsmanship and attention to detail. The pavilion will feature cutting-edge technology, holograms, new car models, calligraphy, martial arts demonstrations, and cultural displays including kimono and anime.

In the lead-up to the fair, the Greek government is preparing for a busy political season. The event traditionally serves as a platform for the Prime Minister to announce new support measures for citizens. Ahead of the opening, the administration is monitoring public opinion regarding summer issues such as wildfire management, cost of living, and diplomatic relations, as well as gauging the sentiment of various professional groups including farmers, retirees, and small business owners.
