Thessaloniki Metro station vandalized days after extension launch

The Aretsou station of the Thessaloniki Metro was vandalized by unknown individuals just two days after the launch of the Kalamaria extension. Perpetrators used red spray paint to write slogans on an exterior wall of the station.

According to reports, the vandals reportedly tested the spray on a nearby bench before using it to reach higher points on the wall. Following the incident, specialized crews from Elliniko Metro cleaned and restored the site by daybreak to return the wall to its original state.

Nikos Denis, CEO of Elliniko Metro, has called on passengers and local residents to protect the new infrastructure and report suspicious activity. Authorities are currently reviewing security camera footage to identify the perpetrators, and officials are considering additional security measures for the stations during nighttime hours.
