Thessaloniki police hailed for frontline evacuations and dog rescue amid city fires

The Union of Police Employees in Thessaloniki thanked police officers who worked on the front lines of recent city fires, guiding residents to safety and supporting evacuation efforts. The statement praised the cooperation of police with fire‑fighting units, Canadair aircraft pilots, helicopter crews and volunteers.

A video released by the union also shows police rescuing a dog during a blaze in the Oraiokastro district. The union highlighted that the city has faced several tragic incidents in recent days, including in the Liti area, and affirmed the police’s commitment to continue protecting citizens and bringing any perpetrators to justice.
