Thessaly Governor discusses agricultural support and flood prevention

Thessaly Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas met with Christos Lappas, former mayor of Trikala and PASOK election coordinator, to discuss regional development and challenges facing the primary sector.

Discussions focused on the difficulties encountered by farmers and livestock breeders, specifically regarding low product prices and crop damage caused by extreme weather events. Kouretas highlighted initiatives taken by the Region, including proposals submitted to the President of ELGA, Andreas Lykourentzos, to accelerate compensation, boost agricultural income, and implement permanent prevention and anti-hail measures.

Both parties emphasized the need to support the livestock sector, which is currently facing challenges from diseases, and called for faster procedures to restock livestock lost to recent disasters. Additionally, they stressed the importance of securing state funding to immediately execute flood prevention works in Thessaly according to a specific timeline.
