Thessaly joins European AGRINEXT project for agricultural innovation

The Agri-Food Partnership of the Thessaly Region presented its role and strategic planning during the inaugural meeting of the AGRINEXT project held in Athens. Coordinated by the Agricultural University of Athens, the project is funded by the European Union’s Horizon Europe program with approximately 7.89 million euros.

AGRINEXT involves 21 partners from 12 countries and is scheduled to run until March 2031. The initiative aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of rural producers and workers to help them adapt to technological, environmental, and productive shifts. Solutions developed through the project will be tested in ten pilot regions, including Thessaly.

The Thessaly pilot program focuses on three primary priorities: water and climate resilience through precision irrigation and drought adaptation, soil health via sustainable and regenerative agroecological practices, and the development of digital skills and artificial intelligence for agricultural data application.
