Thessaly Region to invest €3 million in EKAB modernization

The Thessaly Region is investing approximately €3 million to modernize the National Center for Emergency Assistance (EKAB) in Larissa. The project, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, is part of the Thessaly 2021-2027 program aimed at strengthening the public health system.

The initiative includes four main sub-projects: the construction of a new EKAB building in the Agios Thoma neighborhood of Larissa, the procurement of technological and operational equipment for the new facility, the purchase of five new ambulances (three diesel and two fully electric), and the installation of a photovoltaic system with energy storage and charging stations for the electric vehicles.

The new facility will house the operational communication and coordination center for ambulances in the Thessaly Region, the Larissa EKAB branch, and an EKAB training center.
