Thibau Nys nears Vuelta a España return after injury and illness

Cyclist Thibau Nys is working toward a potential return to competition following a difficult period involving a knee operation and a recent bout of toxoplasmosis. His father, Sven Nys, stated there is a 90% chance that Thibau will participate in the Vuelta a España, provided his training data and physical condition remain positive. A final decision is expected within the coming days.

Lidl-Trek is prioritizing Nys's long-term health, noting that he should not participate if it jeopardizes his upcoming cross season. If the Vuelta is not feasible, alternative options include the Renewi Tour or the Tour of Germany.

Nys is also eyeing the World Championships in Canada. While the Vuelta remains the primary goal to build necessary form, his participation in races such as those in Québec and Montréal could serve as a pathway to securing a spot for the World Championships.
