Thieves steal over €1 million in jewelry from Torino auction house
In the early hours of a Tuesday morning, around 04:20, a group of thieves entered the historic Casa d’Aste Sant’Agostino on Corso Tassoni in Torino. Using masks, heavy hammers and a flexible tool, they bypassed the security system and, in roughly four minutes, emptied the display cases containing jewelry, watches and precious stones slated for auction on 9‑10 June. The stolen items are valued at about one million euros.
The alarm sounded but the intruders were already fleeing; police arrived at the scene by 04:29 and found no trace of the perpetrators. The auction house’s owner, Vanessa Carioggia, said, "È stato scioccante vedere le immagini del furto" and confirmed that insurance procedures have been started. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and looking for links to other similar thefts.
